he initial results from the 2011 census were released this morning. The population of England and Wales has risen by 3.7 million between 2001 and 2011.

“This is a very significant moment. These latest figures bring home the impact of immigration on our population and on our society. We want to see further strong measures to get these numbers down and restore public confidence in the political system. We look forward to debating this issue in the House on 6th September.”
