On the 5th March in the House of Commons Frank Field MP secured an urgent question to the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions. He asked  “if he will make a statement on what actions the Government are planning to restrict welfare to newcomers from Bulgaria and Romania from 1 January next year.”  In the debate that followed Nicholas Soames MP pointed out the huge financial incentive to migrate from Romania and Bulgaria and asked if the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions would be looking to see if other European countries take a different approach to judging residency and the access to benefits that it brings.  The full transcript of the debate be found here http://tinyurl.com/brd5nuq
